Minimalism is huge right now. The whole less is more thing is changing people’s lives. Far from a fad, minimalism is a practical way of simplifying your life. Give it a go and you’ll soon reap the rewards. Especially when it comes to beauty. Loading your skin and face and hair with a thousand products that promise different things isn’t always the best route forward. Instead, try chucking out those products that are gathering dust in your cupboards and re-energise your beauty regime by swapping quantity for quality.
I’ve been obsessed with discovering effective multi-taskers for a while.
Not only do they give better value, they also mean your cupboards are clearer and you actually know what works for you. I’ve reinvented my makeup routine and skincare routine by using products that do more than one thing well. Introducing my pick of the best multi tasking beauty must haves.
Dr Broners Magic Soap
There really isn’t much that Dr Bronners Magic Soap ($16.19) can’t do. The so-called 18-uses-in-one Liquid Soaps are pretty incredible. Made from coconut oil and vegetable oils the castile soap can be used to wash your face, hands, hair and even your clothes and teeth. I use it to remove makeup and cleanse my face. I also use it as a body wash and shaving foam for my legs. It comes in lots of different fragrances, but the old lady in me can’t help but love the Rose fragrance the most.
Dr. Levy 3DEEP Cell Renewal Micro-Resurfacing Cleanser
Dr. Levy is one of those aesthetic skin care brands that deliver incredible results. Fresh from Swiss laboratories, all their formulas have been scrutinized for maximum efficacy. Their new 3DEEP Cell Renewal Micro-Resurfacing Cleanser ($45.00) is incredible because of its ability to not only cleanse skin, remove makeup and clear impurities, it can also be used as a fast acting mask; leave it on for five minutes and the cell renewing AHA will leave your skin looking and feeling brighter and more toned. Pores appear smaller too – which is always a major win. This one is a hard worker and comes highly recommended.
Dr. PAWPAW Tinted Peach Pink Balm
Dr. PawPaw’s Balm is another one of those cult products that are so simple they can’t help but be brilliant. Made from pawpaw, which is considered to be a magic ingredient, you can use Dr. PawPaw balm to soften lips, hydrate cuticles, tame flyaway hairs and nourish dry or cracked skin. It’s a handbag must have! The celebs love it too – Emma Watson is a major fan. I love the tinted Peach Pink Balm ($10.00) best which doubles up as a cheek and lip tint.
BioDerma Photoderm AR SPF50+ Tinted Moisturizer
With primer, moisturizer, SPF and foundation to load onto your face each day, it’s no wonder your pores can start to feel the strain. I switched from my usual routine to simply applying this magic little multi-tasker from BioDerma. Their Photoderm AR SPF50+ Tinted Moisturizer ($21.96)not only hydrates, it also protects your skin from UVA and UVB damage and gives skin an even tone with a touch of tint. I love the lightweight feeling of this cream and the fact it soothes redness too. It’s a definite must have.
Living Proof Healthy Hair 5-in-1 Styling Treatment
Forget all those other products on your shelf and get used to the magic formula that is Healthy Hair 5-in-1 Styling Treatment ($15-27)which effortlessly lifts roots, smoothes frizz and gives you a bouncy, glossy mane to throw about your shoulders. It makes hair stronger too, reducing breakage by up to 78%. Simply smooth through damp hair and style, as usual, you’ll soon be fooling everyone that you’ve had a professional blow out.
